The UnReel Take:
Bottom Line: This movie starts out following some believable free spirits/thrill seekers as they come up with plan to go on an adventure, and maybe find some fortune in the process. As the movie goes on, the classic found footage tropes ramp up. The characters become more and more unlikeable, relationships devolve, bad decisions are made, and the inevitable happens. If you aren’t a fan of the genre, you likely won’t get much out of this movie. But if you are, than it is a solid found footage effort. You have likely seen much worse than this on your FF journey.
UnReel AR: 5.4
UnReel Category: Found Footage - Points for atmosphere/location, and authenticity of some of the props and effects. Something not all FF directors care to be detailed with.
Food Pairing: This is best viewed with something earthy…you’ll probably want to avoid red meat for this one. The best pairing is actually something my father used to order all the time: A Chinese chicken salad with a peanut dressing. I think it would match the jungle setting perfectly to enhance your viewing experience.
Drink Pairing: I watched this movie while drinking a session IPA from Founders. It worked pretty well; it was just bitter enough to match the attitude the friends have toward each other.
