The UnReel Take:

Bottom Line: This film almost stands alone, despite the premise of a dying world not being new to sci-fi. Nolan takes it and makes it an original idea again. Cooper, our main character, faces some of the hardest choices throughout the film, and the use of time relativity is explained in ways that even a simple-minded person, like myself, can understand. There are some unlikely ‘characters’ that make more of an impact on you than expected, which creates an emotional attachment greater than some of the people in the movie. Overall, this is a movie I wish I could see for the first time again.

UnReel AR: 9.2

UnReel Category: Epic Sci-Fi - The main theme is obviously sci-fi, but everything is grounded in solid fact; there are no warp drives or laser guns, and the suspense is riveting at more moments throughout the film then I originally anticipated.

Food Pairing: We have to go with corn, more specifically popcorn. Not just regular popcorn though. I have a spicy dusty popcorn recipe for you: Dust off your bowls and make your popcorn, melt some butter on top, then sprinkle on some cumin, salt, chili powder and a bit of cayenne powder too. Oh, and you’ll want to grab a few extra napkins. As an added bonus, you can blame the inevitable tears on the spice.

Drink Pairing: Another simple recommendation here, grab a glass bottle (or three) of some local beer. I would stick with a lighter beer to help wash down the popcorn without creating a flavor clash that heavy IPA or stout might.
