Bottom Line: If you are familiar with the Orphan movie (this is our first dive into this world), this is an origin story /prequel. Having not seen the first one, I can’t compare the two movies…yet. So, stand alone, I was pretty entertained with the performances and the story. Julia Stiles is a delight to see on the screen again, especially with how her story evolves. Some of the filming style choices are odd, but doesn’t detract from the experience too much. If you are a fan of movies involving deranged killers that you confusingly sometimes root for, you won’t want to pass on this one!

UnReel Category: Serial Suspense - “Esther” starts to rack up her body count.

Food Pairing: Funnily enough, there is a scene with the family eating Mac n Cheese with hot dogs, which is a dish we have recommended before. I was trying to come up with something else, but hey, why fix it if it ain’t broken. It’s a classic dish that will always hit the spot, and should do the trick to immerse you even further in the movie.

Drink Pairing: I’m thinking a boozy smoothie would pair nicely with this movie. The general atmosphere just seems cold from beginning to end, and, there is one scene in particular that makes it appropriate. Though, you may want to finish your smoothie before that scene (It’s towards the end anyhow).
