The UnReel Take:

Bottom Line: I went into this movie with no expectations. I was fairly certain it wasn’t going to be anything like the 2000 Dungeon and Dragons, but otherwise didn’t know what kind of movie it was going to try and be. I was so pleasantly surprised at the experience. The writing was top notch, but just as important, the execution and delivery of the writing was absolute gold. It is well paced, well-acted, and very entertaining. There are plenty of obvious and not so obvious nods to the game, but honestly, it is so good and has you so engrossed in the quest, you don’t really recognize them until the experience is over.

Food Pairing: Go with a homemade (or store bought if your cooking skills aren’t up to the task) Chicken Pot Pie. It’s delicious, and whimsical.

Drink Pairing: This is one of those movies that calls for a flagon of ale, or mead. And I mean a real flagon. The movie already does such a great job of transporting you to its time and location, holding a wooden cup of ale will really complete the immersive experience.
