The UnReel Take:
Bottom Line: This rating is for the movie experience, and not a comparison to the book. From the very beginning of the film you get the feeling that this is more than just another planet-hopping movie. The film provides a personal attachment to the characters while showing the vastness few space films can create. I felt drawn in immediately and surprisingly enjoyed the political and economic aspects of the film. Whether you like space or a galaxy that balances on psychoactive drugs to function, this movie is a must see for any fan of sci-fi.
UnReel AR: 9.1
UnReel Category: Epic Sci-Fi - Science fiction on a scale that dwarfs others in the genre.
Food Pairing: Bear with me as this is a nod to the region in which filming occurred; find your local Eastern Mediterranean/Middle Eastern eatery, and order Muhammar or Musakhan. The latter is a roasted chicken covered in all kinds of spices (get it?). To really feel one with the movie, embrace your inner Baron and eat it with your hands.
Drink Pairing: A thimble full of water…yeah, that’s it. OK, get a bottle of dry red wine. This should add to your desert film experience while complimenting the chicken.
