The UnReel Take:

Bottom Line: This is a movie that knows exactly what it is. The “spoofing” aspect of the movie is on point. Michael Jai White is both hilarious yet believable and capable, as he mows through multiple villains and “jive suckas.” Yes, there are stupid moments, but they are by design, and will no doubt garner a chuckle.

UnReel AR: 7.4

UnReel Category: Comedy Spoof - This movie is an obvious and affectionate spoof of 70’s ‘blaxploitation’ films such as Coffy and Foxy Brown, and it is very well done.

Food Pairing: There is no other option but chicken and waffles, as you’ll see in the movie. Hopefully you have a local bar or restaurant that does them well, or maybe you are lucky enough to live near a Roscoe’s. Either way, this unique combination will help enhance your movie experience.

Drink Pairing: To pair with the movie and the meal, we think any coffee liqueur cocktail will work. Whether it is an espresso martini, white/black russian, or a coffee old fashioned, it should compliment both nicely. The sweetness of the syrup is a match made in heaven as it contrasts the bitterness of the coffee. The pairing is as delicious as it is mysterious, not unlike our protagonist.
