The UnReel Take:
Bottom Line: This film starts off with a seemingly classic amnesia tale. However, as the characters are developed and the story starts to unfold, it will grip any lover of the spy-thriller genre. The theme of ‘he’s one step ahead’ to ‘they are one step ahead’ doesn’t get old, and the story is fed to the audience in a way that really keeps you on your feet. I think the film is as true to the book as a movie can be, without being 4hrs long; any fan of Ludlum’s work will appreciate this film. And if you haven’t read the books, it’s still an exhilarating experience.
UnReel AR: 7.5
UnReel Category: Tier 1 Action - You may question the category initially, but stick with it and the payoff will be worth it. The action scenes are a unique and original style (for 2002) that leaves no doubt in your mind that this is Tier 1 Action.
Food Pairing: I recommend a lighter Mediterranean style pasta with your choice of protein, or you can forgo the protein in favor of artichoke hearts, which would be my choice for this.
Drink Pairing: Grab yourself a nice Parisian wine, I recommend a red. It won’t end up being too heavy for the action and will connect you to the scenes and regions in the film.
