REPEAT
Author: Kylie Scott
Date released: 2019
Category: Romance
Synopsis: When a vicious attack leaves 25-year-old Clementine Johns with no memory, she's forced to start over. Now she has to figure out who she was and why she made the choices she did - which includes leaving the supposed love of her life, tattoo artist Ed Larsen, only a month before.
Ed can hardly believe it when his ex shows up at his tattoo parlor with no memory of their past, asking about the breakup that nearly destroyed him. The last thing he needs is more heartache, but he can't seem to let her go again.
Should they walk away for good, or does their love deserve a repeat performance?

Bottom Line: Typically I don't like stories that revolve around amnesia, but damn if KS didn't get me hooked with Repeat. The way our MC, Clem, thinks of her former self as basically a different person is fascinating and creates a completely different vibe than in similar stories I've come across. Ed doesn't just immediately let go of his own feelings when he learns about Clem's memory loss, which I appreciated. He's definitely book boyfriend material, btw.
Now, I'd read Pause, the second book in the series, before I read Repeat, because I didn't realize this was a duology. Pause includes a lot of spoilers for Repeat, so I can't reasonably judge how well the big reveals were woven in. Bummer.
As with most KS books, I thought Clem was relatable and laughed out loud several times, even with the dark themes explored. There are some steamy scenes and, unusually with this author, they were a bit cringe. This didn't really hamper my enjoyment, but it knocked a star off.
There were also a lot of name drops for other books so that was fun.
Ideal Reading Location: Somewhere in public, where you can feel the energy coming off the crowd. Fair warning though, you will probably laugh out loud and look like a crazy person.
Drink Pairing: Repeat feels like a good old fashioned beer book to me. Ed would approve.
Maybe your experience will be different!
